The inventor of the game “Operation” cannot afford an operation of his own
- You may remember the game of “Operation” from your childhood. The inventor, John Spinello, needs a $25,000 oral surgery that he cannot afford. Spinello has only made $500 from the game, collected when he sold the rights. Spinello said he plans to focus on the joy that the game brought children over the past 50 years rather than being bitter about his healthcare crisis. Donations for Spinello’s surgery are being accepted online.
- Ever sent a text to the wrong person? Alvin Cross, Jr. accidently sent the text “you have some weed?” to his probation officer, allowing the officer to search the man’s home and find a bag of cocaine. Cross was on probation after 15 years in jail for an armed robbery in 2006. Cross will be doing another year in prison due to his cocaine possession and poor texting etiquette.
Breaking and entering in a Teletubby suit
- A Leighton University student is facing charges for breaking into his friend’s Pennsylvania home and stealing Chinese leftovers, all while wearing a yellow Teletubby suit. The student damaged the home owner’s door while forcing his entrance. A disorderly conduct and criminal mischief summons will be sent to the suspect.
- George, the ten year old goldfish, recently underwent a $300 surgery after a tumor was discovered. George’s surgeon, Dr. Tristan Rich, had the fish swim in water laced with anesthetic prior to the surgery. Rich removed the tumor while the fish was asleep and sealed the wound with four stitches. The goldfish was then given painkillers and put back into water.
- The Kansas Division of Emergency Management is starting a campaign to prepare people for the attack of zombies. Gov. Sam Brownback will be signing a proclamation Friday that will designate October as Zombie Preparedness Month. The Kansas Division of Emergency Management is claiming the real goal behind the campaign is to keep residents prepared for a natural disaster in a fun and relaxed way. The month of October in Kansas will now consist of coming up with emergency plans and collecting supplies necessary for survival.
