Prom do's and don'ts

With prom only a month away and closing in fast, many people are unsure as to how to approach it. Here are a couple of tips on what to do when it comes to prom:

Guys
·         Know how to dance. After all, prom is one big formal dance. If you have two left feet, take lessons or just brush up on some techniques. You won't need to bust a move, just know enough as to not mess up that romantic slow dance.
·         Be sure to look your best. Wear a neat tuxedo and put on some of your best cologne, just be sure not to overdo it. Also be sure to dress in a color that complements your date’s dress, and find a corsage that matches as well.
·         Be polite. Make sure you open doors for your date and at the end of the night, walk her to her door.
·         Compliment your date. Everyone loves to hear how nice they look, so a few compliments here and there are always a nice gesture.

Girls
·         Dress appropriately. Try not to wear a dress that is too revealing or scandalous. Knee length is typically as short as prom dresses need to go. Be classy, not trashy.
·         Don't run off with your friends the whole night. You can always talk with friends and dance with other people at your table, just be sure not to spend the whole time ignoring your date. Always save the first and last dance for your date.
·         Try everything on the week before. To make sure that you will look perfect for that special night. Test your outfit out to be certain that everything works.

Prom is supposed to be a fun experience, so don’t stress. Just follow these simple, common sense rules and you will be sure to have a great time.
