The
results are in. We polled 57 people to
see how many logos they could correctly identify. Five of these logos were ones
we thought would be more commonly known by an Apex High student. The other five
logos are marketed towards a more mature crowd. Do you think you can identify
the logos?
The
first five logos that we expected the average Apex student to know:
79% of
students/teachers guessed this trademark correctly. Most of the other 21%
answered “Kroger” in confidence. Without the “Since 1956” at the top, Kroger
and this logo are almost identical. The actual logo was Jersey Mike’s. Famous
for its student special and its line out the door during our lunches, it came
in with more than three-fourth’s of students knowing the red bordered circle.
We thought
this was a brand all Apex students would know, because so many students advertise
the logos on their ears. This product also makes so many appearances in the
music videos we watch, from Lil Wayne to Ariana Grande. Fun fact: Dr Dre just this
past year became the first billionaire in hip hop because of this brand. Eighty
four percent of students/teachers knew the logo was Beats by Dre.
We
aren’t even in Pennsylvania, but this was one of the more well-known symbols at
95% of students/teachers getting this correct. Other guessers were close with answers such as “the NFL.” The correct
answer was the Pittsburgh Steelers.
A common
guess for this logo was Adidas and Reebok. It’s a logo our athlete-filled
school is constantly wearing on our socks, backpacks, and t-shirts. Eighty four
percent knew the name: Under Armour.
A lot of
people guessed this one was UNC or “some education thing.” They identified it
as something they saw on their school papers. The correct answer was Wake
County Public School System, or as a lot of students answered: W-C-P-S-S. Eighty
two percent of those polled answered correctly. To our surprise, a lot more
students knew this logo than the teachers, most likely due to the WCPSS Twitter
account that constantly is interacting with students on twitter had a lot to do
with this.
The five
other logos that we thought would be less known by the school’s population:
A lot of
students found this brand on the tip of their tongue: “a cigarette company.”
Other guesses included beer or “some kind of flag.” We are glad to see Apex is
truly a smoke-free zone with only 37% of those quizzed knowing Marlboro was the
correct answer.
There
was a large variety of answers for this red white and blue logo. The answers
ranged from Capital One to American Express. 65% of Apex High attendees’ are
about their money: answering correctly with Bank of America.
Almost
100% of Apex could correctly answer this. This side of the road logo was the
most well-known of them all with 97%. For the 3% who did not know, the answer
was Shell.
No one
at Apex is getting buried in the Louis store. (2 Chainz reference) This was the
least known logo with 33%. A lot of guesses included complete opposites of the
high end brand, including “some kind of college” or “some kind of football
thing.” The correct answer was Louis Vuitton.
The
Bulldogs and BYU were common guesses for this logo. While Handsome Dan is a
bulldog, that was incorrect. Only 48% of Apex are true scholars who were able
to correctly identify this logo as Yale.
