Summer page turners

For a lot of students, reading can be a total drag and completely tedious. However, there’s actually a wide selection of riveting, enjoyable books that teens will love (when they give it a chance). In fact, here’s a list of some great Young Adult fiction books that will keep you reading all summer:

1.      The Divergent Series: This three part dystopian series (Divergent, Insurgent, and Allegiant) tells the story of a teenage girl escaping her family’s plain, selfless faction to join the daring environment of the Dauntless faction. It’s exciting, intense, and romantic all at once; you’ll never want to put it down.
2.       The Fault in our Stars: TFIOS, soon to be released as a film, is the not-so-average love story of a 16-year-old girl with thyroid cancer who quickly catches the eye of a quirky, cute seventeen-year-old boy. This page-turner is adorable, tear-jerking, and is sure to make you fall in love with the characters and their story.
3.       The Maze Runner: Can you imagine waking up with not a single memory in a secluded field enclosed in a colossal maze with dozens of strangers? For Thomas, this is his reality; he has to find a way to escape the maze and (hopefully) remember how he and his fellow ‘Gladers’ got there. This mystery novel will leave you wanting answers and keep you fully engaged.
4.       The Hunger Games Series: The highly proclaimed Hunger Games movies were based off of this intense three-part book saga. The plot follows 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen and the hardships she faces after she volunteers to save her sister and take part in the 74th annual Hunger Games: a fight to the death for ages 12-18. Take a journey through Katniss’ mind as she faces her toughest challenge yet: staying alive.

These are just a few of the many captivating titles out there. Instead of watching TV or spending the day online, read a good book! Not only is it educational, but it’s an entertaining way to pass the time.
