Male spring and summer style guide

Four months of winter have passed and temperatures are beginning to rise. This means that it’s time to put away the jackets and pants and put on your favorite summer clothes. So what is on the top of the list for guys?

So, there’s a new look in guys’ shorts. “Skies out thighs out” is not only a common phrase said by Chubbies donors and the Chubbies brand motto. These new preppy shorts have a length anywhere between half to three-fourths of the way down the thigh. Overall, these shorts are guy’s boxer length, maybe even shorter. Despite the unique length, they have become rather popular in male summer fashion.

Over the past few years, graphic design tank shirts have also been a popular choice of apparel for summer weather. Brands such as Diamond Supply Co., LRG, and RVCA are a few names which carry these popular shirts.

Sperry's are a staple for warm weather fashion.

The Polo scene is always summer appropriate, from rolled up, long sleeve button downs, to simple pullover collared shirts. Polo Ralph Lauren, Vineyard Vines, Southern Tide, and Lacoste are all brands that can give your summer a classier feel. Throw on a pair of Ray-Bans with these shirts and you can accomplish anything.

Pocket tees or regular tees with a pair of shorts and flip flops or Sperry’s give the ultimate summer feel. Guy Harvey, a popular brand for males, carries front-pocket shirts which include an ocean designed back with an array of fish varying from a small minnow to a killer whale.

To finish off that summer look, don’t ignore your shoes. As summer rolls back around, it’s safe to wear white shoes again (even though no one follows that rule). Nike athletic shoes are always a safe bet with a pair of gym shorts and a t-shirt. Sperry’s or other types of boat shoes are typically in style around this time of year, but please don’t wear them with socks. Probably the most popular footwear for warm weather are Rainbow sandals or any open-toed shoes.
