As the weather warms and trees begin to bloom, many look forward to the transition from chilly winter to warm, sunny spring. With this seasonal change comes fun activities to enjoy during spring.

Go to festivals. To celebrate spring, towns tend to take advantage of the nice weather by holding various festivals. Peakfest, an arts and crafts festival, in downtown Apex attracts thousands of locals each year. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 4, visitors can enjoy a variety of foods, musical performances, and purchase different art products. Parking is typically difficult, so make sure you arrive early. Also, consider attending downtown Cary’s Spring Daze Arts & Crafts Festival on April 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be arts and crafts, food, as well as an Earth Day exhibition, where you can learn about protecting the environment.
Planting flowers is a fun way to freshen up your yard.

Plant flowers. Want to give your yard a fresh, new look just in time for spring? Designing and creating a flower bed is not simply your grandmother's pastime. Take advantage of the warm, sunny weather, be creative, and get your hands dirty. Local nurseries, such as Lowe’s Hardware and Home Depot, carry a variety of flowers which are sure to brighten up your yard. For tips and tricks on planting flowers, visit:

Visit a farmers’ market. As the weather begins to warm, farmers’ markets start selling fresh foods just in time for spring. The State Farmers Market, located in Raleigh, has a wide selection of organic fruits and vegetables sold by N.C. farmers, as well as vendors who sell unique art products and delicious foods, such as organic honey, pastries, and different cheeses. Other local markets, such as Cary’s and Apex’s, provide local foods, live music, as well as cooking demos each week.
