Iron Man, Gatsby, and other May movies

Summer is just around the corner. Before you get busy with summer plans, check out some of the intense sequels and sci-fi films you’ve been waiting for. This May, movies will have you sitting on the edge of your seat.


May 3

Iron Man 3 (PG-13): Starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Kingsley, and Robert Downey, Jr.

Tony Stark (Downey, Jr.) finally has his life in order, but when a new enemy, the Mandarin (Kingsley), comes to light, everything changes. Not only is the country in danger, but Stark’s personal life is the new target. He will do everything in his power to protect his girlfriend, Pepper Potts (Paltrow), but this time Tony might be the one who needs protecting.

May 10

The Great Gatsby (PG-13): Starring Tobey Maguire, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Cary Mulligan

It’s the Roaring Twenties and America is thriving. Nick Carraway, (Maguire) a WWI veteran, lives next door to Jay Gatsby (DiCaprio), who has extravagant parties to impress the love of his life, Daisy (Mulligan). As he makes all his fantasies reality, his hidden past comes to light, thwarting their romance. Based on the classic novel, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

May 17

Star Trek Into Darkness (PG-13): Starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Benedict Cumberbatch

Captain James T. Kirk (Pine), Spock (Quinto), and the rest of the crew on the Enterprise, find a seemingly unstoppable weapon that could destroy everything they hold dear. The enemy behind it all is one of Star Fleet’s best and brightest, Khan (Cumberbatch). Can they save the last frontier, or is all hope lost?

May 24

Epic (PG): Starring Amanda Seyfried, Josh Hutcherson, and Collin Farrel

Mary Katherine’s (Seyfried) father has always told her that there’s a secret world in the forest. When she magically shrinks, she discovers that her father is right. The Leafmen, protectors of the forest, need her help to defeat a force of evil that’s rotting the forest, and she needs their help to become human again. It’s sure to be a fun family film.

May 31

After Earth (PG-13): Starring Will Smith, Jaden Smith, and Isabelle Fuhrman

It’s 1,000 years in the future, and Earth is no longer inhabitable. When Kitai (Jaden Smith) and his father, Cypher (Will Smith), crash land on Earth, they find that everything has evolved to attack humans. With Cypher injured, Kitai has to venture out on his own to try and find help. Will he have the guts to do it, or will he let fear take over?
