Reddit CEO Yishan Wong resigned from his position after a disagreement between him and lead investor Sam Altman over a new office location and how much money to spend on the lease. The argument was outlined in post on Altman’s own blog. Altman says he and the board did not ask Wong to resign, “To be clear, though, we didn’t ask or suggest that he resign—he decided to when we didn’t approve the new office plan.”

Ellen Pao will be temporarily replacing Wong as interim CEO. “Because of her combination of vision, execution, and leadership, I expect that she’ll do an incredible job,” said Altman. Pao graduated from Princeton with a degree in electrical engineering in 1991 and then graduated from Harvard with a law degree in 1994.

Alexis Ohanian, Reddit cofounder, is returning as full time executive chairman. Ohanian had the original idea for Reddit.  “He had the original product vision for the company and I’m excited he’ll get to finish the job,” said Altman on the blog post. In his return he will be mostly responsible for marketing, communications, strategy, and community.
