New Teacher: Amy Ernenwein

Amy Ernenwein
From: She was born and grew up in Durham, but she currently resides in Raleigh. Ernenwein attended UNC-Chapel Hill where she earned an undergraduate degree in political science and history, as well as a Master’s in education.

Previous jobs: She taught U.S. history at East Chapel Hill High School, and then worked at Research Triangle Institute International studying research on education.

Motivation to become a teacher: “My love for the subject originally made me want to teach. Once I began teaching, I loved being around students.”

Favorite time period: Russia’s modern history. “The country’s really ethnically diverse and it’s interesting the way they view government and a person’s place in society.”

Favorite President: “Lyndon B. Johnson because of his role in helping Civil Rights and America’s poor.”
