Valentine’s Day is landing on a Saturday this year and your
significant other is expecting a perfect date. Here are some inexpensive and
fun, local options.
Have a picnic.
Perhaps the least expensive and the most classic option for
a Valentine’s date is a picnic. Pick up some subs or make some at home. Bring
some snacks with you too. Find a spot at Lake Pine or Jordan Lake. After your
meal, you can take a walk around the lake or trails. Walking usually tends to
create a great, natural conversation and you can learn a lot about your date
this way.
Go out to eat.
Even though high school students don’t have that much to
spend, you can still take your significant other out to a nice dinner. Sushi
Iwa in Beaver Creek has a great deal, buy one get one free sushi. I suggest
buying two sushi rolls and getting two for free, this way you can mix and match
sushi rolls with your date. If you or your date doesn’t like sushi, there are other
options.
If you’re going for a more laid back environment, you can
take your date to Chili's and get the two for $20 meal. This meal includes an
appetizer and two entrees for only $20. It’s more relaxed but still better than
taking your date to McDonalds.
Chill in the house.
You can rent a Redbox movie or find something on Netflix.
When you throw in a pizza and lots of snacks, it’s better than the movie
theatres. For a more romantic option, you can make your own dinner together.
There are many simple recipes on the Internet.
Do something fun.
The Cary Ice House is open from 8:15 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.
every Saturday. It’s $9 per person plus $3 for rentals. Make sure your date is
an ok skater before attempting this. It’s also close to Cook-Out, if you want
to get some milkshakes after.
