Out with the old and in with the new; the start of 2015 offers bright beginnings and final goodbyes for some of our favorite television characters.
Bright Beginnings:
January
21-Backstrom, a comedy drama, will
premiere on Fox at 9 p.m. The Office’s Rainn Wilson, known for his
role as Dwight Schrute, will star as Detective Everett Backstrom.
February
8&9: The prequel series to the famed show Breaking Bad, Better Call
Saul, will feature a two night premiere on AMC, both halves starting at 10
p.m. The drama will follow the lawyer of
the original series, Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk), six years before Walter White
was in the picture.
February
19- The Odd Couple, a remake of the
1970 television version, starring Jack Klugman (Oscar) and Tony Randall (Felix)
will premiere on CBS at 8:30 p.m.
Matthew Perry (Oscar) and Thomas Lennon (Felix) will play best
friends-turned roommates in the new comedy.
Both shows originally derived from the Neil Simon play, The Odd Couple.
Stuck in the Middle (returning shows):
January
14-American sitcom Workaholics will
return 10 p.m. on Comedy Central for its fifth season.
January
22-The Vampire Diaries will have a
midseason return, jumping straight into episode 11 of season six, “Woke Up with
a Monster”. Episode 11 will start at 8
p.m. on the CW.
February
23- The Voice is back with original
judges Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, Pharrell Williams, and Adam Levine
competing for new talent. The singing
competition will have their season eight premiere at 8 p.m. on NBC.
Final Goodbyes:
January
9-It’s almost time to say goodbye to the McKinley crew, Glee’s final season will kick off with a two hour premiere at 9
p.m. on Fox.
January
13-Parks and Recreation, the final
season will premiere on NBC at 8 p.m.
The season will consist of 13 episodes and feature a new employee,
played by Jon Hamm.
January
20-Season six will be the final season of
Justified. The crime drama’s final
premiere will start at 10 p.m. on Fox.
