Scholar Artist: Rachel Mumford

Schedule: AP Psychology, French III, Art IV, AP English IV

GPA: 4.8

Favorite artist: Rembrandt and Norman Rockwell. “I really love [Rembrandt’s] use of light and how he captured emotion in his work,” says Mumford. She adds that Rockwell changed American culture with his work.

Inspiration: Mumford enjoys seeing how modern artists approach traditional ideas. She states that she is “pretty spiritual,” attributing her inspiration to her “faith in God and the knowledge he is my Father and Creator.”

Clubs: Member of National Art Honor Society and National Honor Society.

Hobbies: “Don’t hobbies require free time?” Mumford jokes. She says that she enjoys reading books such as The Count of Monte Christo and Jane Eyre whenever she can. She also likes cooking and baking.

Favorite food: Her grandmother’s Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes and jam.

Favorite class: Chemistry. “It’s relatively new,” says Mumford. “We study what early chemists did and they were totally wrong. It’s cool how far we’ve come.”


Hopes for the future: “I hope that I will be happy and make other people happy. I hope I will never stop learning.”
