Tips on how to stay healthy

With cold and flu season in full swing, how are people expecting to stay healthy? It seems that everywhere you go people have a slight cough or a stuffy nose. Here are some tips to help prevent those aches and pains.

1. Sleep: Your body needs the right amount of rest to be able to prevent getting sick. Also, if you do get sick, resting will ultimately help you heal more quickly. Teens should get 8-9hrs of sleep.

2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth: Germs are spread and caught faster and easier the more you come in contact with them.

3. Wash your hands: Hands touch everything and are dirtier than you realize. Wash with warm water and scrub with soap for twenty seconds or use hand sanitizer.

4. Contact: Try not to shake hands or hug people who are sick.

5. Eating right: Eating right will help keep your body strong. Citrus fruits, raw veggies, and oatmeal are just a few foods which can help build your immune system.

6. Water: Water will help you stay hydrated and energized. Make it a goal to keep a bottle with you all day and finish it before you get home.
