Make the most of spring break this year

Unfortunately, at the expense of many Wake County students and teachers, spring break has technically been cut down to two days. Despite that, there is still plenty of opportunity for fun to take place by taking some pointers from a few of these brilliant ideas.

Spend Time Outside

If you are looking for something to do that will spur conversation, allow you to enjoy nature and get some sunshine, go on a walk at a local park. You may find an opportunity to watch the daily endeavors of local aquatic birds. At the end of a busy spring day in Apex, it’s always a treat to pay a visit to Lake Pine at sunset and enjoy the view.

Try Geocaching

Geocache is the world’s biggest online scavenger hunt and there are plenty of geocaching spots all over Apex for you to discover simply by downloading the official Geocaching app. Other geocachers, as they are called, in the area will place items in specific locations and will offer hints and coordinates on the app in order to aid you in your search.

Chill

Take a break from everything for a day and just sleep, don’t go to work, chill out. Take this very special opportunity to turn off your phone and, for a little bit, let yourself live in the moment.

Paint the Town Red

Head downtown this spring break, either in Apex, Cary or in Raleigh and see what your local municipalities have to offer you. Grab a coffee at Common Grounds in Downtown Apex before taking a nice stroll around town. Maybe catch a movie at the new Cary Theatre in downtown Cary. You could even head into downtown Raleigh and have a vegan sub from the Remedy Diner. With warm weather quickly approaching ice cream shops will once again become the cool place to hang out.

Play Video Games/Watch Television

If you find yourself indoors this spring break remember that video games are a fun equivalent to playing outside. Hold a Super Smash Bros 4 tournament on your friend’s Wii U or maybe take things up a notch and play some Tekken Tag Tournament on your PS3. If video games aren’t available or just simply aren’t cutting it for you, remember Netflix and Hulu are both excellent sources for popular TV shows and movies including Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Ru Paul’s Drag Race, and Grey’s Anatomy.

Try downloading a new app

Perhaps your spring break isn’t all you’ve hoped for it to be and you find yourself bogged down by work and responsibility. Thankfully phone gaming is a relatively discreet relief from boredom and can be accomplished while at work. Some of the more popular, free apps include Tetris, Jelly Jump, Crossy Road, and Trivia Crack.
