The
2014 Billboard Awards aired live Sunday on ABC and featured many talked-about
performances. Sunday night brought many
moments of joy for the show’s viewers, the main event of the night being the
Michael Jackson hologram that took the stage after being introduced by
Ludacris, Kesha, and Brad Paisley. L.A.
Reid showed the hologram alongside a crew of backup dancers performing “Slave
to the Rhythm”, a song from Jackson’s posthumous album, Xscape. The album features
Justin Timberlake, who was the biggest winner Sunday night, taking home seven
awards including Artist of the Year, Top Male Artist, and Top R&B Artist. Timberlake did not attend the show, but accepted
all his awards via video. Another
leading male, Robin Thicke, collected four awards. Sunday night also featured a performance by
Miley Cyrus, singing the Beatles classic “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” at her
concert in the Manchester Arena. Other
