Decoration creations for Thanksgiving

Candles are a very simple, easy and inexpensive décor that come in variety of styles. A popular craft is to take a vase or bowl and fill it about one-third full with coffee beans, kidney beans, walnuts, corn kernels or candy corn. Place the candle in the center, and then tie ribbon or string around the outside of the vase. Other ways of making candle decorations are: Take green beans or asparagus, line it around the candle and secure them with a ribbon; you could also core an apple just enough to place a tea candle at the top to generate an amazing fragrance.

Do you have any empty wine bottles or a set of glass cups you never use? Save them for your mantle or center piece this season. Choose a festive word and set out as many bottles as there are letters. At your local craft, store look for rub-on and transfer letters that vary in size and font. Place the letter on the glass and rub it until the entire message has transferred. Another option is to take large wine glasses, place mini pumpkins or pinecones on the inside, and flip the glass upside down.

Table settings are important, especially when hosting a get together. Cut out business card-sized cardstock or construction paper and make two hole-punches on either side horizontally. Take ribbon and pull it through both ends, but don’t tie it. On the card, write names, festive sayings, or decorate it with stamps. Lastly, slide a folded napkin between the card and ribbon and set it on the table. You could also take a leaf (fake or real), place it on the napkin and loosely tie a string or ribbon around the napkin.
